Heritage Diver – Make It Yours

Inspired by the timeless design language of classic dive watches, the Heritage Diver captures the spirit of vintage tool watches while leaving room for individuality.

This is not a replica, nor an attempt to copy the past. It is a reinterpretation — a platform built around proportions, materials, and details that you can shape into something uniquely yours. From dial textures and handsets to bezel and strap combinations, each piece is assembled by hand and configured to reflect your taste. No two watches need to be the same. At its core, this watch celebrates what made iconic divers so enduring: clarity, robustness, and quiet confidence — now combined with the freedom to create a watch that feels personal.

If you’re looking for a watch with heritage, but without limits, this is your starting point.

The Snowflake Hands

The distinctive square-shaped hour hand used by Tudor is known as the “Snowflake” hand — one of the most recognizable design signatures in dive watches.

Origins (late 1960s)

The Snowflake hand first appeared in 1969 on Tudor Submariner models (notably the 7016 and 7021). It wasn’t introduced for style alone — it was driven by practical needs.

At the time, Tudor was supplying watches to professional users, including the French Navy. These users required:

  • Maximum legibility underwater

  • Clear distinction between hour and minute hands

  • Strong performance in low-light conditions

Why the square shape?

The large, angular “snowflake” tip allowed for:

  • More luminous material (lume) than traditional hands

  • Faster visual recognition of the hour hand

  • Better contrast against the dial under water

Paired with square hour markers, the design created a highly readable system — crucial for divers relying on precise timing.

From tool to icon

What started as a functional solution became a defining aesthetic. Over time, the Snowflake hand evolved into a core Tudor identity, reappearing in modern models like the Black Bay and Pelagos.

Today, it represents:

  • Tool-watch heritage

  • Bold, utilitarian design

  • A bridge between vintage inspiration and modern craftsmanship
